 From the airplane the lines don't look so very big, but this Spider is with a few dozens of meters one of the smallest. The Nazcas made those lines in the desert ages ago. Why? On the one hand the figures were part of an astronomical calendar and on the other they were used for irrigation. At least, that's what we think, because of the canals that all animals have running to them. You can see the spiders' canal on the lower right part.
 Vanuit het vliegtuig lijken de lijnen niet zo enorm groot, deze spin is met zijn enkele tientallen meters echter één van de kleinere. De Nazca's maakten deze lijnen eeuwen geleden in de woestijn. Waarom? Deels waren de figuren onderdeel van een astronomische kalender en volgens ons werden ze ook gebruikt als irrigatiekanalen. Wij baseren deze theorie op het feit dat alle dieren een soort inlaat hebben, een lijn die naar de figuur toe loopt. Bij deze spin zit die lijn rechtsonder.
