In July 2003 we went 3 weeks to Croatia. The first week we were in sunny Istria. After this week we went south to middle Dalmatia. The place we stayed was Omiš, about 20 kilometers from Split. For the next 4 days we went further south, to medieval Dubrovnik, in south Dalmatia. The last days of our holliday we spent in Plitvice, where we visited the Plitvice Lakes.

	If you want to go to Dubrovnik by car you have to cross some borders. There is a small piece of land from Bosnia that you have to cross, at Neum, before getting to Croatian land again. For us this was a bit of a surprise, and at the borders we had to wait for some time. But Dubrovnik is worth it! The city center is carefully restored after the homeland war in the beginning of the nineties. But at a lot of places you can still see the damage at the old buildings. On these pictures you see knight Roland in front of Sv. Blaho church, Sponza Palace, Stradun(main street) and Velika Gospa church.

	There are a few monasteries in Dubrovnik. Above, on 2 pictures, you see one of them. In the middle you see the inside of the old City Hall, which we found very beautiful.

	A great excursion the inhabitants of Dubrovnik make during the summer as well is to the island of Lokrum. From this island you have a good view at the old city of Dubrovnik. At Plitvice Lakes you can see 16 blue/green lakes and 92 waterfalls, a great experience! We were there for 2 days and visited the parc at one day. It's so strange, to see all dry lands when you drive from Dubrovnik to Plitvice... and then suddenly you come in these green forests with all these lakes. It's a very nice oasis where you can see a lot of animals and plants.

	As you can see the water was sooo clear you could even see all of the fish swimming there.
