In July 2002 we went to Czech Republic for a week, after we stayed in Italy (great!) and Germany (rainy, cold and depressing) before. We had a private house on a hill, close to the village of Horka nad Sazavou and looking down over the river Sazava. Our house had an own fireplace, own garage and no close neighbors at all. So we had a lot of privacy with a great view, what else do you want after a week in a German cave with nothing but pooring rain.

In Kutna Hora we liked the Santa Barbara church and were surprised by the bone decorations in the Sedlec church. All decorations inside this 'Bonehouse' were made of human bones.

In Prague we went to the Jewish cemetery and the Jewish museum and synagogues. The Prague castle, above the city center, is also worth visiting. Especially the Saint Vitus' cathedral is beautiful and from up on the tower you have a great view on Prague.

On the market place of Prague we were present at a strange phenomenon: the 12 apostles at the astronomic clock attracted thousands of people who were obsessed by these little figures rotating around the clock. The big, dark building is the national museum of Czech Republic. We didn't have enough time to pay a visit, but the square in front of it was a beautiful view with all these flowers. The concert hall is at least on the outside a beautiful building with paintings on it. We didn't see the interior, so this is one of our reasons to come back here once! Another trip we made was by train, to see the Cesky Sternberk castle, which was high on a hill, above the river.
