Berlin 1 > Holocaust Monument Photo
The name of this new memorial officially is "Denkmal für ermordeten Juden Europas" and is the national holocaust memorial from Germany. The American Peter Eisemann is the designer. Unfortunately the monument is mostly used as a playground for children at the moment. Children climb on the dark grey piles that symbolize the millions of murdered Jewish people and run through the "corridors". We wonder how long it will take before somebody things of a clever solution.
Dit nieuwe gedenkteken heet officiëel "Denkmal für ermordeten Juden Europas" en is het nationale holocaust monument van Duitsland. Het is ontworpen door de Amerikaan Peter Eisenman. Helaas wordt het monument meer gebruikt als kinderspeelplaats dan dat je het idee hebt van een monument. Kinderen klimmen op de donkergrijze zuilen die symbool staan voor de miljoenen vermoorde Joden en rennen tussen de "gangen" door. Wij vragen ons af hoe lang het duurt voor Berlijn hier iets aan gaat doen.
