Rhodes 2 > Butterfly Valley Photo
In the Valley of the Butterflies (Petaloúdes) there are great ammounts of butterflies (Panaxia Quadripunctaria) in July and August. We were there in September and still we saw many butterflies, but also other animals, like this lizard. They constantly hunt for butterflies, which they apparently see as a pleasant snack. This lizard was rather small, but we saw some bigger ones too.
In de Vlindervallei (Petaloúdes) zijn in juli en augustus grote aantallen vlinders (Panazia Quadripunctaria ofwel Spaanse Vlag) te zien. Wij waren er in september en nog altijd zagen we veel vlinders, maar ook andere dieren, zoals deze hagedis. Ze jagen voortdurend achter de vlinders aan, die zij blijkbaar zien als lekker hapje. Dit was nog een klein exemplaar, we zagen nog veel grotere.
