Some buildings in the old town of Pingyao are wonderfully maintained, while others almost fall apart. These old walls and the roof still show how they were built: with clay and straw. In the background there is a wall that’s still in good condition, whith an extra layer of bricks added to the clay-/straw layer.
Sommige gebouwen in de oude binnenstad van Pingyao zijn prachtig onderhouden, terwijl andere bijna uit elkaar vallen. Aan deze oude muur en het dak is goed te zien hoe er gebouwd werd: met klei en stro. Op de achtergrond staat een muur die nog in goeie staat is, waarbij er nog een laag bakstenen aan de klei-/stro-laag is toegevoegd.
