The South~East > Hasankeyf
The landscapes in the region of Hassankeyf are arid and rocky. Still the river Tigris once flowed through this area. From 2012 this place will look much different, as in this year the next big dam of the Turkish GAP project will be completed. All of this area will disappear under water and many archeological sites wil simply vanish.
De landschappen in de omgeving van Hasankeyf zijn droog en rotsachtig. Toch stroomt de rivier de Tigris door deze omgeving. Vanaf 2012 zal alles er hier heel anders uit gaan zien, als de volgende grote dam van het Turkse GAP project klaar is. Alles komt onder een enorme laag water te liggen en daarmee gaan er heel wat archeologische sites ten onder.
