De roadconditions in Croatia are not that good on some places. This makes driving an exhausting activity. Many (toll-)highways are built at the moment, so travelling in Croatia will be much easier in the future. The coastal road (Magistrala) is dangerous, particularly with rain. This road has many curves and the view is bad at some points. Maximum speed at most of the Magistrala is 50 km/hour. With the start of fall there can be dangerous winds at the entire coastline.
De toestand van de wegen in Kroatië is soms niet al te best. Daardoor is autorijden op sommige stukken vermoeiend. Wel worden er steeds meer nieuwe (tol-)snelwegen aangelegd en daardoor schiet reizen op bepaalde trajecten nu veel meer op. De kustweg (Magistrala) is vooral bij regen erg gevaarlijk. De weg is bochtig en onoverzichtelijk en op de meeste stukken kan maximaal 50 km per uur worden gereden. De Bora zorgt soms voor hevig windstoten, waardoor het nog gevaarlijker wordt.

Since the war in former Yugoslavia has ended in the mid 90's many villages, hotels and apartments have been rebuilt. Every year they build many new hotels and apartments so there is enough choice for every one. At the entire Croatian coastline and at Plitvice there are enough camping sites as well. Sinds het einde van de oorlog in het voormalig Yugoslavië midden jaren '90 worden veel dorpjes en daarmee hun hotels en appartementen weer opgebouwd. Er worden elk jaar weer nieuwe hotels, pensions en appartementencomplexen bijgebouwd en daarmee wordt de keuze dus steeds groter. Croatia has been very busy rebuilding the country after the war that took place here in the mid 90's. Nevertheless there are still many things that remember us of this time. Houses with holes, without windows or even completely collapsed. Abbandoned villages where it's better to stay on the mainroad, as there can still be mines in the bushes. Most of these areas are in the hinterland, at the coast everything has been cleaned already. Recovery at the hinterland takes place every day, but it will last for many years untill everything will be fixed.Many watersports can be done at the Croatian Coastline. Sailing is one of the most popular sports. Even tours for several days on big sail ships are a possibilty. Check the internet for your own trip.
De afgelopen jaren heeft Kroatië hard gewerkt aan de wederopbouw van het land na de oorlog die er in de jaren 90 heeft gewoed. Toch zijn er op veel plaatsen wel nog sporen uit die tijd achtergebleven. Huizen met kogelgaten, zonder ramen of soms zelfs helemaal ingestort. Verlaten dorpen waar je beter de verharde wegen niet kunt verlaten. Er kunnen nog mijnen liggen. Deze gebieden zijn vooral te vinden in het binnenland, aan de kust is er haast niks meer te merken van die tijd. Ook het binnenland wordt langzaam maar zeker hersteld, maar het zal nog vele jaren duren voordat alles is opgeruimd en vernieuwd.
De Kroatische kust leent zich uitstekend voor watersport. Zeilen is één van de meest geliefde watersporten hier. Ook meerdaagse tochten op grote zeilschepen behoren tot de mogelijkheden. Deze tochten zijn overal op internet te boeken.
